Getting started
Create your first invoice
From a blank account to a finished GST invoice you can send, in about five minutes.
Before you start
You need two things: your business details (so the invoice carries your GSTIN and address) and one customer. Both take a minute, and you only do them once.
If you already keep customers and items in Zoho, Tally, Vyapar or a spreadsheet, bring them in first instead of typing them again — see Move your data in from Zoho or a spreadsheet.
Make the invoice
Everything on this screen is a choice, not a form to fill. Tax is worked out for you from the place of supply, so you never pick CGST or IGST yourself.
- Go to Invoices → New.
- Pick the customer. Start typing — the search finds them even if you spell the name differently than you saved it.
- Add your items and quantities. The rate and GST rate come from the item, and you can change either on the line.
- Check the total. CGST and SGST split automatically for a customer in your own state; a customer in another state gets IGST.
- Save it as a draft, or finalize it when you are happy.
Draft or finalized — the difference matters
A draft is yours to change as often as you like. Nothing has happened yet: no invoice number is used up, no stock has moved, nothing appears in your GST reports.
Finalizing is the moment the document becomes real. It takes the next number in your invoice series, moves the stock, posts the accounting entries, and starts counting the money as owed to you.
A finalized invoice is never edited silently. To change one you amend it: Dukaaan reverses the original entry, posts the corrected one, keeps the invoice number, and records the whole change in your activity log. Filed periods stay untouchable.
Send it
Open the invoice and choose Get PDF & share link. You get the PDF to download or forward, and a link you can send.
If that customer has a phone number saved, you also get a Share on WhatsApp option that opens WhatsApp with the link ready to send. You tap send — Dukaaan does not message your customer on its own.
