Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Dukaaan. They are written in plain language on purpose: terms nobody can read are terms nobody agreed to.
Who these terms are between
They are between you — the business that creates an account — and Dukaaan, operated from India. If you accept them on behalf of a business, you confirm you are allowed to.
What Dukaaan is
Billing and bookkeeping software. It helps you produce GST invoices, track what customers owe you, record payments and stock, and produce GST returns for you or your accountant to file. It is a tool you operate, not an accounting or tax service, and we do not file returns on your behalf.
What we are not responsible for
The accuracy of what you enter, and the tax positions you take. We work hard to compute GST correctly from the details you give us, but the GSTIN, the place of supply, the rate on an item and the decision to file are yours. Check your returns before filing them, and involve your accountant where it matters.
Connecting your GST portal account
You can connect your GST portal account so that Dukaaan can send your GSTR-1 details to the GST Network for you. Connecting is your authorisation for us to do that, and only that. We record who connected the account and when. Three things stay true for as long as it is connected: we never ask for or store your GST portal password — the sign-in uses your username and a one-time code that the portal sends to your own registered phone and email, which only you can read; we never send anything to the portal without you confirming it first, and we never submit or file a return, so the final filing always happens on the GST portal by you or your accountant; and you can disconnect at any time, from Settings, which deletes the stored session immediately. The session we hold is short-lived and expires on its own within hours, so reconnecting from time to time is normal.
Your account
You are responsible for who you invite and what they do. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, use the accountant role for people who should only read, and remove people who leave.
Your data
Your business data stays yours. We store and process it to run the service, as described in the Privacy Policy, and you can export all of it at any time. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or train anything on it.
Finalized documents cannot be edited
Once you finalize an invoice, credit note or similar document, neither you nor we can alter it. This is a deliberate design choice that GST law expects. Corrections happen through credit notes and cancellations, which leave a record.
Paying for it
Dukaaan is offered on a free trial and then on a subscription. Prices are on the pricing page. Subscription billing is not switched on yet; when it is, these terms will be updated before anyone is charged, and the refund policy will apply.
Stopping
You can stop using Dukaaan whenever you like and export everything first. We may suspend an account that is being used unlawfully, or to attack or degrade the service for others. If we ever discontinue the service, we will give you notice and time to export.
Availability
We aim to keep Dukaaan available and back it up daily, but no online service is available every second. We do not promise uninterrupted access, and we are not liable for losses caused by an outage beyond refunding the affected period.
Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits or penalties arising from a return you filed.
Changes to these terms
If we change them materially, we will say so in the product before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Dukaaan after that means you accept the new version.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute.
